Tailgaters at UCF

Tailgaters

Being raised in Central Florida in the 60’s and 70’s (Pre Disney) was much the same as any other small Florida coastal town. The Indian River and small town of Eau Gallie were my stomping grounds, nestled on the Intercoastal waterway with a short 4 mile hop to the beach. Growing up it was only natural that my life consisted of fishing and, when there were “wave’s” skiping school to surf. This was the best time a young person could have growing up. To this day, I am still working on the growing up part. Back then the legal drinking age was 18 and we had started the party circuit in high school. This is also my excuse for my lack of higher education.

In 1981, I found myself across from the campus living in the “Haystacks” and bartending at the local college bar on Hwy 50. Since then I have always felt as if UCF was “my” school. By an act of sheer genius (or intoxicated stupidity) during the near upset of Texas in our brand new stadium last year, I hatched my plan to open “Tailgaters”. My goal was to create a place for Students, Alumni, Parents, Faculty, and Neighbors alike to come together and eat, drink, party and support this great campus.

Please enjoy our recipes, and the best damn beer selection anywhere around, as we cheer on and support both our academic and athletic programs here at UCF. If you have a great experience tell a friend. If you don’t…Tell me!!!
